Have you ever heard of civil forfeiture? I became interested in this after speaking with a friend and just wanted to share this common practice that happens all over the US. So basically this gives local law enforcement officers the right to seize and keep money or property it they suspect that it has been acquired by criminal activity. The kicker for me is that police can keep the property without a conviction- or even an arrest. Each state can have varying degrees of control in how they enforce...NC is one of the strongest which will require a conviction. It is designed to help with the war on drugs and terrorism. What concerns me is the average citizen who just sold a vehicle and is headed to the bank with $5,000 cash in their wallet and is pulled over for a minor offense. That situation could be subject to civil forfeiture with a unethical police officer. Something to think about....JESUS is Coming Soon!! Are you Ready????
